My name is Cheryl Kern and I am located in Pontiac, Michigan. My hobby ferretry started in 1996 because of my daughter, Christi. She is the one that I have to thank for introducing me to the world of ferrets.
She had brought this cute little bundle of fur in December 1995 as a Christmas present. She had brought Sigmond from a pet store and had all the literature from there regarding care. After reading that they are a social animal, I decided for myself that Sigmond needed a friend. So Zeke and Isabel joined Sigmond within a week. What a happy little group for her!
The next time I went to purchase pet items, I found a ferret magazine and purchase it for further reading on the "Little Mischief Makers" that I had in my house. Here is where I found they had ferret breeders and also ferret shows. Since I have raised and shown both dogs and cats in the past, my curiosity got the best of me.
I found a local breeder to visit in January 1996 and that is when "Mischief Maker Ferrets" began. I had purchased a black jill, a dark sable hob, a black roan mitt jill, and dark silver mitt hob during the year. I had also visited a ferret show and loved every minute that I spent there. The rest is history.
